Design: Line 1 of the Pune Metro in India

The design of the Pune Metro involved 9 elevated stations running 11,570 km from Pimpri-Chinchwad to Range Hill.

The stations are based on two architectural approaches intended to enhance the surrounding area. As such, seven of them have an organic design whilst two have an industrial one. The inspiration for the organic design comes from the dense vegetation around the stations, and features a façade which mimics the shape of a leaf, thus allowing the stations to blend in with their surroundings. In terms of the robust, industrial design, this is a reflection of the enormous manufacturing industry in the satellite city of Pimpri-Chinchwad, in Pune.
