The project involved the following: 24 km of conveyance pipelines with a nominal capacity of 1.5 m3/s, a water treatment plant with a nominal capacity of 1.8 m3/s, 100 km of gravity pipelines through to the city of Querétaro, storage work and all necessary additional work.
The features of this project which were particularly noteworthy included:
- A diversion dam on the Moctezuma River, measuring 12.30 m high and 78 m long.
- A catchment pumping system with 80 mWc vertical pumps (3+1) and two pumping stations (3+1) with a capacity of 2.25 m3/s and 572 mWc. Total pump head: 1050 mWc.
- Spirally welded 1,200 mm steel conveyance pipelines, spanning 24 km in length.
- El Doctor drilled tunnel, measuring 2,854 metres in length and with a 6x5 m arched section.
