This project, undertaken with the architecture firm Carbajal, involved the first contract awarded under the preliminary design tender for the construction of the specialist hospital in Puente Genil, in the province of Cordoba, in 2002.
The hospital is located on the outskirts of the town, near to a motorway linking Estepa and Lucena.
The building is designed in the shape of a comb with the hospital's administrative services, reception and emergency department housed in the main section, and consultation areas, operating theatres and wards located in the wings.
There is also a canteen in an adjoining building. The purpose of the hospital is to provide fast consultation, testing and diagnostic services, as well as outpatient and short-stay surgical services. In order to achieve this, the ratio of operating theatres to beds is high and the hospital has a wide range of cutting-edge medical equipment.
