Ibermática’s 50th anniversary celebration: committed to growth and job creation

At Ibermática’s 50th anniversary – Ayesa gathered 600 representatives from local businesses, institutions, government, as well as leading global technology manufacturers, at the Kursaal Palace in San Sebastian.

Founded in 1973, Ibermática was one of the first state-owned IT consulting firms, an innovative organisation that has played a key role in driving the growth of the ITC sector, helping to digitalise wide-ranging sectors such as finance to industry across the Basque region.

Fifty years on and now part of Ayesa, it is one of the Top Five digital service providers in Spain. In the current year, the Ayesa Group generated more than 640 million euros in annual turnover, and employs almost 12,000 experts in engineering and technology. 

In the words of José Luis Manzanares, CEO of Ayesa: ‘Our priorities are providing growth, generating value, leadership across our sectors, and working towards becoming a top global firm, whilst staying true to our roots. Ibermática will continue to be an important player in the Basque Country, committed to the region and society as a whole’. 

As part of this vision, the CEO announced the creation of Ibermática Fundazioa, which will aim to focus on CSR activities to drive innovation, training and job creation. 

Before ending his speech, he mentioned how Ayesa will continue to grow in the Basque Country through major technology projects: ‘Between now and 2026, we are expecting double-digit growth and estimate we will create around 5,000 jobs, of which a third will be in the Basque Country.”

The regional Minister for Public Governance Self-Government Olatz Garamendi highlighted Ibermática’s role as ‘a company  with close ties to the Basque Country and the importance of its commitment to growth and remaining future-ready to embrace the challenges ahead’.  

She went on to remind those present at the event how ‘over the past five decades, Ibermática has come a long way, having expanded internationally and accompanied so many leading companies on their journey of digital transformation’.
