Ayesa assists Chilean giant Codelco with its digital transformation

The company is providing the world leader in copper mining with support for its legacy systems.

Ayesa, a global provider of technology and engineering services, has consolidated its presence in Chile by partnering up with Codelco.

Among the world’s five biggest mining companies, the biggest global producer of copper and a leader in mineral reserves, the Chilean giant has awarded Ayesa a contract to maintain and update its legacy systems. These are used to manage important areas such as invoicing and work orders.

Codelco is a privately managed state-owned company and is regarded as the driving force behind the country’s economy. Its operations currently depend on a range of applications supported by different platforms.

Over the next five years, Ayesa will also integrate the company’s legacy systems with new platforms currently being developed. To do this, it will use legacy technology (.NET, PHP, Visual Basic, Oracle, SQL Server and HTML), SharePoint (2013, 2016, 2019 and web version), low-code (Microsoft Power Platform) and AVEVA NET.

The project is part of Codelco’s digital transformation process, which will see it automate its mining and production plant processes using RPA as well as make improvements to its SAP systems and business applications.

For Juan Ignacio Mena, Ayesa’s IT Director for Chile, ‘this project has allowed us to cement our position as one of the country’s leading providers of technology services. Our aim is to accompany our clients with end-to-end services as they undertake ambitious transformation projects’.
