Ayesa Secures Two Major Educational Contracts Worth EUR 8.3 Million

The contracts will extend Ayesa’s maintenance services for Séneca by another four years. Séneca is an educational management platform developed 20 years ago for the Regional Government of Andalusia. It supports and streamlines various educational processes, such as student administration, curriculum management, and performance tracking.

Ayesa will also develop two functional modules to adapt the solution to new requirements, including those relating to LOMLOE, Spain’s new education act.

Ayesa, an international provider of technology and engineering services, has reaffirmed its position as a leader in educational digital solutions in Andalusia. As such, the company has recently been awarded two new contracts valued at EUR 8.3 million, which will see it continue to maintain and adapt Séneca.

The platform was developed by the Regional Government of Andalusia and Ayesa two decades ago and is used to manage state schools and colleges in the region. Since being launched it has become a benchmark in terms of its features and number of users. In fact, the model upon which it is based has been so successful that it has been replicated by other local governments throughout Spain.

The first contract, valued at EUR 5.7 million, will see Ayesa provide maintenance services through to 2025.

Juan Pavón, Director of the Education Division at Ayesa, explains how the company will adapt the system to Spain’s new education act, known as LOMLOE. This includes changes to the country’s education system, including assessments.

The second contract, worth EUR 2.6 million and funded by the EU, will involve developing a series of modules to meet the new needs of the system. These involve assessments, electronic voting for members of the education system and online questionnaires.

The new modules will also allow workplace training and dual vocational training programmes to be effectively managed. In addition, a number of changes will be introduced in line with the needs of specialist educational establishments, such as conservatories, dance schools and language institutes.

The technology behind the platform will also be upgraded to ensure its scalability and stability in the face of growing demand for services.

‘These are extremely important contracts for Ayesa, which will see the company continue to provide maintenance services for this benchmark education platform, as well as create a number of new modules. They are a clear reflection of the regional government’s continued trust in Ayesa, and put us in a privileged position from which to secure similar contracts in other regions’, notes Juan Pavón.

A leading educational management platform

Various platforms based on Séneca have been introduced across Spain by way of a source code licence agreement between local governments and the Andalusian Department for Educational Development and Vocational Training. These include Rayuela in Extremadura, Yedra in Cantabria, Racima in La Rioja, Sauce in Asturias, Delphos in Castilla–La Mancha and Raíces in Madrid.

The most recent example is Fenicia, launched in Ceuta and Melilla by the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sport.

Séneca has simplified and automated the management of educational establishments in Andalusia as well as related support services by providing real-time access to up-to-date data, based on a single, transactional and highly available database. A large part of its success can be accredited to the fact that it is extremely robust, adaptable, functional and user friendly.
