Designing safe dams and hydroelectric power plants
At Ayesa, we offer services covering theentire life cycle of dams. This sees us participate in their design, supervise their construction, analyse their behaviour, and provide support to their owners for operations, maintenance, inspections and repairs. In fact, our teams have been involved in many of the more than 1200 large dams throughout Spain. What’s more, we detect pathologies and assess safety as well as draft and check all safety documentation and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. We also follow Spain’s Technical Regulations for Dam Safety, which are designed to ensure their entire life cycle is correctly managed, from design, control and monitoring through to decommissioning.
Types of hydroelectric schemes in place include large hydro schemes that use dams to impound water in a reservoir, creating a large head of water, and pumped storage for large-scale energy storage. Based on our firm belief that renewable energy will soon surpass fossil fuels, and in line with Horizon 2030 and Horizon 2050, we have taken part in major hydropower projects in Spain and around the world.
