Monitoring and review of the Tagus river basin management plan

The aim of this project was to bring to light key issues relating to the river basin, put forward suitable measures, and create the Tagus third-cycle river basin management plan 2021-2027 based on this. This included taking into account water balance in various scenarios, as well as assessing protected areas, quality water, the objectives being pursued and the effects of climate change. A series of measures, designed in coordination with the Committee of Competent Authorities, were also put forward, in addition to a streamlined economic analysis to help with decision-making, based on a cost-benefit analysis. Work was carried out as part of a public participation process (meetings, workshops, training events, etc.) and involved a strategic environmental assessment, which took into account other major national plans.
