“Séneca is highly regarded and respected within the national educational community as a best-in-class standard for the management of educational processes, data, and systems”.
Juan Pavón
Head of the Education Division
Education is a top priority in society as it plays a crucial role in promoting progress and development for the future. As educational needs continue to evolve, it is essential to ensure that educational systems can respond efficiently and rapidly to these changes. Traditional management systems are often expensive to maintain and need help to handle the challenges posed by receiving data in varying formats (discs, paper, files) from different systems/applications and at various standards…
The Department of Education of the Andalusian Regional Government partnered with Ayesa to create the Séneca application in 2002. This innovative application effectively manages educational centres, support services, inspections, programs, and activities within the Andalusian educational system. Despite the challenges posed by the relatively new technology of the Internet at the time, the Andalusian regional government made a significant technological commitment to implement Séneca, with a large impact group of 4,000 centres and 80,000 teachers.
Séneca’s subsystem, PASEN, provides a comprehensive service to the educational community, including schools, parents, teachers, students, and associations. Séneca is available for all types of schools, regardless of their academic level. It is used by teachers, school management teams, and administrative staff, enabling them to carry out all administrative management processes related to their teaching duties.
The Séneca Platform integrates various functionalities related to student records, academic programs, schedules, grades, and other administrative tasks. It streamlines administrative processes, reducing paperwork and administrative burdens for teachers and staff, which can help improve overall educational outcomes and reduce costs associated with administrative tasks.
The Séneca Platform also facilitates communication between teachers, students, and parents, promoting stakeholder collaboration and engagement. It provides access to educational resources, including digital textbooks and other learning materials.
Séneca-Pasen manages 7,133 educational centres, 126,049 teachers, and more than 1,792,021 students, making it the most extensive system of the Andalusian Regional Government in terms of simultaneous users. Ayesa, the leading consulting firm in digital platforms for the education sector nationwide, continues to maintain and evolve this flagship platform within the Spanish public education system.
Séneca simplifies and automates management and control tasks in educational centres and education support services, providing real-time access to updated data. It also serves as a unique, transactional, and easily accessible database and is known for its robustness, adaptability, functionality, and user-friendliness. Furthermore, the system has been adopted outside of Andalusia, where it was initially developed.
