SMOU urban mobility application

B: SM, Barcelona de Serveis Municipals  a fully-owned entity owned by Barcelona City Council, operates in the areas of mobility, culture, leisure, and public space maintenance in the city of Barcelona. Their vision is to enhance the experiences of residents and tourists through the development of its bespoke SMOU application to enable seamless and efficient navigation throughout the city. 

B: SM engaged Ayesa to develop the new app, including front-end development, a portion of the back-end, and user experience redesign. Ibermática also provided consultation and implemented necessary architectural changes for the project’s success.

The SMOU app serves as a one-stop solution for managing parking in municipal car parks, regulated parking areas on public roads, electric vehicle charging points, bicycle reservations, and access to moto sharing and carsharing services. In addition, we upgraded the app to incorporate parking space management for residents, real-time public transport information, and suggestions for routes and itineraries.

Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Ibermática and Ayesa, the application now offers a more comprehensive range of services and functionalities while utilizing a streamlined architecture that simplifies the development and integration of future updates.

Furthermore, with the introduction of SMOU, users no longer need to juggle multiple applications for different services. Instead, they can access a single app that serves as a definitive point of reference for navigating both the city and the surrounding metropolitan area. By leveraging the app’s powerful route-planning capabilities, users can seamlessly travel from one destination to another without worrying about scheduling or pre-booking transportation services.
