Seville pays tribute to the Chairman of Ayesa by naming a roundabout

The Chairman of Ayesa, José Luis Manzanares Japón, will soon have a roundabout bearing his name in the Cartuja Science and Technology Park, in Seville.

The City Hall of Andalusia’s capital city recently announced the new name of the roundabout, located where Calle Américo Vespucio and Camino de los

Descubrimientos meet, just a few feet from the main entrance of the University of Seville’s School of Engineering.

The aim of the gesture is to recognise ‘the career of this Sevillian, who, thanks to his outstanding entrepreneurial work and teaching, has firmly put the city on the national and international stage’.

José Luis has designed major dams, bridges (some of which have become iconic landmarks, such as Cristo de la Expiración bridge in Seville), irrigation systems, and Formula 1 circuits (such as in Jerez de la Frontera and Valencia). He is also the author of 14 books, the latest of which, ¿Qué somos? [What Are We?], was recently published by Crítica (Planeta).
