Ayesa visits ‘Euskadi Atlantic Data Infrastructure’

The state-of-the-art data centre will allow the company to strengthen its IT services through advanced infrastructure.

Ayesa, a global provider of technology and engineering services, has recently visited Euskadi Atlantic Data Infrastructure (ADI). The new data centre, one the largest and most advanced of its kind in northern Spain, has been created by Euskaltel, Grupo Teknei, Dominion and the Regional Government of the Basque Country to serve both the public and private sector.

Located on the Abanto Campus, part of the Biscay Science and Technology Park, it will allow companies and institutions to store vast amounts of data in the cloud, offering them high levels of security and proximity. The cutting-edge facility will undoubtedly prove invaluable as more and more organisations embark upon a journey of digital transformation. As well as providing the public and private sectors with a whole host of benefits, the project is also expected to have a significant economic and social impact. In fact, estimates suggest it could contribute more than EUR 3 billion to the Basque Country’s GDP.

The initiative, which aims to maximise the availability, scalability, connectivity and sustainability of IT infrastructure, is expected to establish a network of data centres to support businesses and institutions in the region. In fact, in a significant step forward, plans are already under way to open a new data centre in Gipuzkoa in the near future. This will ensure Basque companies with complex data needs have access to world-class facilities.

Pepe Olabarri, Ayesa’s director in the Basque Country, explains how the initiative, launched as part of a collaboration between the public and private sectors, will ‘offer advanced cloud infrastructure, platform and application services for key sectors such as energy, manufacturing, healthcare and finance’. He adds: ‘The fact that it’s certified to Tier IV and LEED Platinum means it offers maximum reliability and sustainability. Not only will it allow companies across the region to digitally transform their processes; it will also create jobs and attract investors’.

‘At Ayesa, we’re looking to incorporate its advanced infrastructure services in our solutions. This will allow us to offer our clients the best possible services to digitally transform and optimise their processes. Ultimately, the result will be more satisfied clients and a more competitive company’.
