Ayesa equips the new Emergency Control Center of San Bartolomé de Tirajana with cutting-edge technology

This facility is a cornerstone of the ‘Maspalomas Smart Destination’ project, awarded by Red.es to the temporary joint venture (UTE) Ayesa – imesAPI.

The municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana (Gran Canaria) is set to inaugurate an innovative Emergency Control Center that promises to revolutionize public safety management. This new municipal facility is part of the ‘Maspalomas Smart Destination’ project, awarded by Red.es to the UTE Ayesa – imesAPI (Control Systems Division) under the framework of Spain’s National Plan for Smart Territories. Ayesa is leading the integration of the 25 technological components that comprise this initiative.

Located within the El Tablero Sports Complex, the Emergency Control Center is currently in its testing phase. It has been designed as a true digital nerve center, centralizing the coordination of emergency services through advanced systems and a highly technological operational environment. By bringing together Fire Brigade and Civil Protection teams in a single physical location, it will enable faster, more coordinated emergency responses and improved resource management.

The new infrastructure includes an operations room dedicated to daily supervision, featuring a video wall composed of eight monitors, workstations equipped with dual-screen computers and headsets, and technology for real-time incident tracking.

The integrated technology will not only enable map visualization and field unit control but also multipoint video conferencing and the automated management of calls and recordings. The system connects with surveillance cameras, drones, traffic monitoring sensors, and crowd control systems, and includes security measures such as biometric access.

To support the center’s operations, 18 rugged tablets and 18 mobile devices have been procured for use under extreme conditions, along with 61 digital radios for emergency vehicles.

The center will be supported by a network of over 60 surveillance cameras positioned at strategic locations throughout the municipality, both urban and coastal, providing traffic monitoring and crowd assessment on the beaches.

The ‘Maspalomas Smart Destination’ project also includes the implementation of a Smart and Open Data Platform, a Digital Tourism Marketing Platform, infrastructure upgrades at local tourist offices, Wi-Fi network installation, development of a tourism mobile app, smart lighting management, and the deployment of a sensor network and meteorological stations.

Among other tasks, Ayesa will be responsible for implementing NEC’s CCOC Smart City platform, the Citizen-Tourist data model, a content management system, the tourism mobile application, and the hyperconverged infrastructure that will host all software solutions for the remaining 24 components.

The project has received €5.7 million in funding from Red.es (63%) through ERDF funds, with the remaining 37% provided by the City Council. Through this comprehensive digital transformation initiative, San Bartolomé de Tirajana strengthens its commitment to innovation and public safety, positioning itself as a benchmark in the smart management of tourist destinations.
