Ayesa chairs the Quantum Technologies Commission of onTech Innovation
This initiative aims to align public and private efforts and position Andalusia as a strategic hub on the national and international Quantum Computing map.
The Quantum Technologies Commission of onTech Innovation has been officially established in Seville, during an event attended by Antonio Alcántara, Manager of the onTech Innovation cluster; Raúl Jiménez, General Manager of the Andalusian Digital Agency (ADA); and Juan de Dios Hermosín, Director of Innovation at Ayesa.
During the session, Antonio Alcántara emphasized the importance of making this project a reality, stating, “Opening new opportunities in the private sector in the field of quantum technologies has been one of our major challenges.” He also highlighted the role of onTech as a driving force and a bridge between companies and institutions, underlining the consolidation of the cluster as a benchmark in technological innovation, ICT, and digital transformation both regionally and nationally.
Following the establishment of the Quantum Technologies Commission, Ayesa has been appointed to the chairmanship, while Multiverse Computing and the Andalusian Digital Agency will serve as vice chairs. The Commission also includes the following companies and entities: IFMIF-DONES Consortium, University of Seville, Fidesol, Safran, Zabala, Grupo Mainjobs, BTO Digital, Grupo Solutia, Softcom, Datagram, and IBM.
Among the first actions agreed upon is the creation of a digital forum for Commission members to share information, strengthen ties with the national quantum ecosystem, and organize workshops and opportunity showcases featuring key stakeholders in the field of quantum technologies at both the Andalusian and Spanish levels. Another key objective is the launch of an observatory to monitor technological developments and identify emerging trends in the quantum field.
In his remarks at the inaugural event, Juan de Dios Hermosín, Ayesa’s Director of Innovation, welcomed the formation of the commission as a tangible step toward expanding the private sector’s quantum capabilities. “The time is now. We want to make a quantum leap toward real-world application, beyond the public domain. Post-quantum cybersecurity (PQC) is already a critical issue in today’s global geopolitical landscape.”
Raúl Jiménez, Director of ADA, also spoke to share the Andalusian Government’s vision on innovation, emphasizing the key role of collaboration with the private sector. “The knowledge resides in the sector, which is why it’s essential to have a platform like this commission to foster quantum development.”
Jiménez reaffirmed the regional government’s commitment to creating a dynamic quantum ecosystem by providing infrastructure, promoting real use cases, and facilitating access to quantum computing. “To this end,” he said, “we will work with universities, research centers, and businesses.” He also announced an upcoming strategic meeting in Granada, where the map of quantum stakeholders in Andalusia will be defined. “We will formally invite onTech so that this group of experts can play an active role in shaping and developing this shared roadmap.”
With the establishment of the Quantum Technologies Commission, onTech strengthens its role as a key liaison between the business community and public institutions, reaffirming its commitment to cutting-edge technology as a driver of economic transformation.
