The Basque Government’s Minister of Industry, Mikel Jauregi, visits Ayesa’s headquarters in Donostia

He met with a broad representation of the company to gain first-hand insight into its operations and future plans.

Yesterday, the Basque Government’s Minister of Industry, Mikel Jauregi, visited the headquarters of Ayesa at the Gipuzkoa Technology Park in Donostia. Ayesa is a global leader in technology and engineering services, with a presence in 24 countries. He was welcomed by Joseba Inchaurraga, Vice President of the company and President of Ibermática Fundazioa, who hosted the visit to Ayesa’s Donostia facilities, home to the largest Security Operations Center (SOC) in the Basque Country, supported by Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing technologies.

Minister Jauregi was accompanied by Jaione Ganzarain, Deputy Minister for Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation. Representing Ayesa were Itziar Cuenca, Director of Ibermática Fundazioa and Ayesa’s R&D Director; Xabier Eroa, Director of the Health and Industry sectors; Álvaro Fraile, Director of Cybersecurity; Marian Aradillas, Director of Artificial Intelligence; and Begoña López, KAM for Repsol at Ayesa.

In addition to a tour of the facilities, the Minister was introduced to Ayesa’s innovation model and its strategic technological focus areas, such as applied Quantum Computing. He also explored the disruptive transformation of data analytics across all phases—leveraging the power of AI and Generative AI (GenAI), data quality as a strategic asset, real-world examples of enhanced information reliability, transformational efficiency, AI agents for intelligent process automation, unstructured data governance, and innovative solutions for managing dispersed knowledge with GenAI.

During the visit to the SOC, Álvaro Fraile provided an overview of the evolving threat landscape, including attacks targeting AI models, data exfiltration, and data poisoning injection as emerging vectors. He also discussed the strengthening of data governance, protection against adversarial attacks, and the principles of security by design in intelligent systems—emphasizing robust, traceable, and secure AI.
