The national road No. 18 is located on the III road trans-European transport corridor - international connection E36 / 40 on the territory of Poland. This corridor connects Ukraine, Slovakia and southern Poland with Dresden and Berlin.
The road was built in the 1930s as part of Adolf Hitler’s plans to connect the main cities of the Third Reich.
Originally a single-carriageway linking Berlin and Wrocław, the A18 is one of Poland’s main carriageways due to its importance for industry and tourism. In November 2004, the first phase of the project to turn the road into the Autostrada A18 motorway began. As such, the missing northern carriageway was completed and opened in 2006.
Ayesa is now providing supervision and contract management services for the 70-km-long southern carriageway between Olszyna and Golnice, in order to adapt it to the requirements of the motorway and the rules governing the EU’s road network.
The concrete surface has been removed in order to widen the road and rebuild it using the material obtained.
In addition, it is planned to equip the A18 motorway with all necessary elements for environmental protection, including upper animal passages.
