Sigtierras (Sistema Nacional de Información y Gestión de Tierras Rurales e Infraestructura Tecnológica) is a programme of the Government of Ecuador to contribute to the efficient management and territorial administration in the country, through the management of orthophotography based on aerial photography, thematic cartography at the national level and cadastre and land information of 57 cantons.
Within the framework of this multilateral project -executed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock in association with the Municipal Decentralized Autonomous Governments-, Ayesa has carried out the audit of the property sweeping campaigns to verify that the scope, objectives, goals and activities of the property sweeping contract are fulfilled according to the technical specifications, norms, guidelines and methodologies established, as well as that the information is reliable and that the products comply with international quality standards.
The work supervised, in more than 380,000 properties, includes the cantons of Latacunga, Esmeraldas, Quinindé, San Lorenzo, Antonio Ante, Cotacachi, Pedro Vicente Maldonado, La Concordia, Guaranda, Pangua, Riobamba, Portoviejo and Tosagua.
A fundamental element in the methodology applied is the use of statistical procedures and methods, several of them duly automated, both in the verification and collection as well as in the analysis of the data under audit. To this end, a field team has moved to each of the cantons where each of the lots to be inspected has been verified 'in situ', for subsequent analysis and interpretation of the information in the technical office.
