The Virtual Secretary project at the University of Panama (UP) is the first international project for the Education and Universities area.
The aims of the project were:
• technological and functional consulting services that concluded with a proposed solution to its complex enrolment process.
• analysis, design and implementation of a Virtual Secretary platform.
This decision meant a commitment to the future by an Electronic Government system that exceeded customer expectations and provided the University of Panama with an environment that would allow the management of all formalities relating to educational management.
The project included the implementation of an electronic method for paying Enrolment fees, in addition to the traditional bank payment. This method has allowed student Enrolment to be fully on-line, without the need to travel or stand in queues.
40,000 students enrolled, more than 30,000 enrolments started and over 300,000 hits in a week are indicators of the project’s success.
