This project involved the building to house the offices of two local government departments on Avenida de Madrid, in Jaén. Apart from the mandatory criteria for rationale, versatility and clear routes for the movement of employees and visitors within these administrative offices, two issues were of particular relevance for this project. These were namely the desire to create comfortable working areas with natural lighting and ventilation, and the need to give the building an image appropriate for its use as the headquarters of the local offices for the Regional Government of Andalusia.
This opening in the building allows natural light and ventilation to reach the inside, as well as giving it an image of institutional transparency. It also helps distribute the building in terms of the use given to its wings. The rectangular west wing houses spaces which can be easily divided into offices and meeting rooms, and the triangular east wing is used for representation and relations purposes.
