Ayesa’s bid for the design tender of the specialised hospital in Bollulos Par del Condado (province of Huelva) focused on seamlessly combining urban and natural environments, creating a smooth transition between the necessary structures for access, car parks and access to the north west of the site, and a public urban allotment to the south east. The entire complex is located on a gradual natural slope which leads down to a stream.
The strategy adopted for the integration of the hospital within the historical and natural surroundings of El Condado may be seen in detail in the drawings included in the bid.
At the centre of the design was the iconic Andalusian hacienda. The way this kind of building imposes itself on its surroundings, but interacts with them at the same time, by way of its distinctive nature and a series of courtyards of varying types (for service personnel, for nobility, etc.) and very different uses (oil press, stables, winepress, etc.), is widely accepted and used in our culture.
