Ayesa Digital integrates AI and quantum technologies into zero-emission aircraft manufacturing

Through its i3B Innovation Institute, the company is developing quantum algorithms to optimize processes, improve real-time anomaly detection, and strengthen the safety of new propulsion systems.

Ayesa Digital, through its R&D unit i3B, is participating in the New-Hegaz project, whose objective is to incorporate the most disruptive technologies into the zero-emission aircraft industry and drive its definitive takeoff.

Led by the CTA (Aeronautical Technologies Centre), this project explores the convergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques, classical computing technologies, and the potential of quantum technologies (computing and sensing) to tackle the challenges facing the zero-emission aircraft industry—specifically, more efficient, zero-defect design and manufacturing, as well as enhanced safety for new propulsion systems.

i3B’s role is to contribute its experience and expertise in AI and quantum technologies to bring these emerging capabilities to an industry-ready level within the aerospace sector. To this end, it is developing quantum algorithms to optimize manufacturing and assembly processes, generate new aircraft aerostructures, improve real-time anomaly detection, and reinforce the eco-safety of new hydrogen-based and hybrid-battery propulsion systems.

These efforts will enable generative design and more efficient manufacturing processes for lighter and more complex aerostructures; the development of new sensing technologies for monitoring and communications; enhanced safety for onboard hydrogen and hybrid energy systems; and the testing of new technologies such as quantum sensing, quantum machine learning, and quantum optimization.

This initiative is co-funded by the Basque Government’s Department of Industry, Energy Transition and Sustainability. Through its contribution, i3B is advancing the maturity of disruptive technologies that will shape the future of zero-emission aviation and strengthening its position at the forefront of quantum computing in the Basque Country.
