Feasibility of a system of long-term thermal storage in molten salts for solar thermal power plant

Research Project financed by the Agencia de Innovación y Desarrollo de Andalucía (Consejería de Innovación, Ciencia y Empresa) and discussed with the Junta de Andalucía on the technical viability of a thermal storage system. It consists of 8 hours in molten salt within a solar thermal power plant of parabolic trough.
The uniqueness of the project is that for the first time in Spain, a task like this has been approached from the perspective of engineering, the design of a high thermal storage capacity (8 hours) for plants of parabolic trough and the problems associated with it.
By completing the project we will have identified the critical aspects in the design and development of these systems and obtain the necessary background to deal with similar design, construction and operation.
