Proposal: PPT-390000-2008-2 | Awarded: 18.12.2008

Research project funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation in the collaborative applied investigation in projects category within research projects within the instrumental line of action of R & D National Plan of R & D 2008-2011, on the definition and programming of effective indicators for roads adequacy associated to the phenomena of frost and glare.

Meteorological and layout variables are analyzed due to the effect they have in the formation of ice on the pavement and the appearance of glare for drivers. There is a definition of the indicators assessing the degree of exposure at each point of the road infrastructure over a year and its relation to the likelihood of frost and glare at each situation. These developments are applied in an integrated information system that evaluates the indicators from lists of layout, terrain model, amount of sunshine and weather variables.
